Overview

Sensational diving opportunities abound, including the famous Cod Hole and the island is only a 50-minute boat ride to the legendary Outer Great Barrier Reef. The Ribbon Reefs near Lizard Island are also renowned for some of the best big game fishing in the world.

Snorkelers are rewarded for little effort with coral gardens, brightly coloured tropical fish and giant clams just moments from the island's beaches. Discover secluded, pristine beaches by foot or by motorised dinghy with a gourmet picnic just for two.

Dining is one of Lizard Island's many pleasures. Osprey's Restaurant embodies the resort's understated elegance. The menu, which changes daily, is fresh and creative, showcasing the finest local produce and freshest seafood.

Children 12 years and under are not catered for on Lizard Island.

The Pavilion

Perched high above the Coral Sea and set on the point of Sunset Ridge, The Pavilion combines complete privacy with a spectacular 270 degree panorama of Anchor Bay, Osprey Island and Sunset Beach.

An expansive decking area incorporates a private plunge pool, sunlounges and a daybed area, inviting guests to relax and take in the stunning views. Leaving the balcony to stroll down a private path, guests will discover another secluded area where chairs and a table have been perfectly positioned to make the most of sea breezes and gorgeous views.

Inside, the Pavilion offers every comfort. A Bose sound system with a CD player and iPod connectivity and a laptop computer for downloading and sending emails are among some of the special features.

Anchor Bay Suites

Set in a broad sweeping arc along Anchor Bay, with easy access to the main Lodge, Anchor Bay Suites offer captivating sea views and each has a pathway leading directly to the beach. Seamlessly blending indoors and out in an elegant and spacious open plan design, a large verandah with daybed is one of the many comforts. Anchor Bay Suites also feature a Bose sound system with a CD player and iPod connectivity.

Sunset Point Villas

Sunset Point Villas are set high on Sunset Ridge amongst native eucalyptus bushland. Providing filtered sea views over Anchor Bay or Sunset Beach, these Villas offer privacy and easy access to a string of secluded beaches. Each Villa has a private deck with comfortable Australian timber chairs and a hammock. Sunset Point Villas also feature a Bose sound system with a CD player and iPod connectivity.

Anchor Bay Rooms

Located in a tropical garden setting with easy access to Anchor Bay and the beach, Anchor Bay Rooms have a private balcony with hammock. Interiors are compact but comfortable and include a Bose sound system with a CD player and iPod connectivity. Anchor Bay Rooms with two separate sleeping areas are also available.

Getting There

Voyages Lizard Island is located 240km north of Cairns and 27km off the coast of North Queensland.

Getting to Cairns

To get to Lizard Island regular flights are available to Cairns from all Australian Capital cities with Qantas and Virgin Blue. Alternatively Queensland Rail offers two Tilt trains and three Sunlander departures from Brisbane to Cairns.

From Cairns International Airport you will then need to take a short 60 minute Hinterland flight transfer to Lizard Island. Alternatively; if you prefer a private charter this can also be arranged. Please see below for further details.

Transfer between Cairns and Lizard Island

By Scenic Flight:

Hinterland Aviation operates regular scenic transfer flights between Cairns Airport and Lizard Island up to 2 times daily on behalf of Voyages Hotels & Resorts. Private transfer charter flights to Lizard Island are also available upon request.

Transfer duration: approx. 60 min. Check-in: 30 minutes prior to the flight departure at the Hinterland Aviation terminal.

Connecting times: if arriving from a domestic flight to Cairns a minimum of one hour connection between flights is required. When arriving from an international flight a minimum of two hours is required - this includes domestic travel on an international flight number. These connection times are required in either direction.

Hinterland Aviation terminal: a courtesy private car transfer from the main terminal at Cairns to the Hinterland Aviation terminal is provided by Sunpalm Coach transfers. Passengers will meet the private car transfer at the Sunpalm check-in desk located in the Domestic Terminal.

Note: Passengers must advise their connecting flight details 7 days prior to departure. Failure to do so will result in transfers not being arranged
Guests staying overnight in Cairns, are required to make their own way to the Hinterland Aviation Terminal. Final check-in is 30 minutes prior to departure time.

Luggage restrictions: passengers are restricted to one suitcase and one small carry-on item of hand luggage each. Soft suitcases are preferable. A limit of 32kg total per person applies, this includes check in and carry-on hand luggage (subject to loading restrictions). Luggage storage facilities are available at the Hinterland Terminal.
